Record trades and acquisitions

Add purchased or traded inventory with the correct cost and audit context.

Use an acquisition when the dealer buys inventory. Use a trade when cards, cash, or store credit move in both directions. Keeping the transaction type correct improves inventory cost, show reporting, and later review.

Availability and permissions: Acquisitions and Trades are separate dealer features. Viewing their lists or details requires View financials. Creating, editing, or cancelling either transaction requires both View financials and Manage inventory.

Record an acquisition

  1. Start from Buy Card.
  2. Enter the card name and required purchase amount.
  3. Verify the transaction currency.
  4. Add the all-in cost, date, source, seller, and note when known.
  5. Optionally associate a show.
  6. If the newly purchased item should also be show inventory, explicitly choose the add-to-show option and review its show price.
  7. Save and verify the new inventory item and acquisition detail.

The purchase amount becomes part of the item's cost basis and affects later profit and margin. The add-to-show option is saved with the purchase so a partial success does not leave the transaction and show inventory out of sync.

Edit or cancel an acquisition

You can edit supported transaction details such as amount, date, source, note, and show association. Changing the show association changes reporting context only; it does not assign or remove the card in show inventory.

The linked inventory item cannot be replaced. If the wrong card was used, cancel the untouched acquisition and record the correct one.

Cancellation is irreversible and is allowed only before later inventory activity makes reversal unsafe. It removes the linked item from active inventory by voiding it while retaining the audit record. Cancelled acquisitions are excluded from active reports and exports.

Record a trade

  1. Add every incoming and outgoing card.
  2. Verify each outgoing item. It must be an individual In stock card; outgoing stack quantities are not supported.
  3. Enter cash paid, cash received, and store credit where applicable.
  4. Add assigned values for multi-card cost allocation.
  5. Optionally associate the trade with a show.
  6. Explicitly choose whether incoming cards should also be added to that show's inventory.
  7. Review the calculated basis and save.

With several incoming cards, CaseLink allocates basis by assigned value. A final basis override is available only when exactly one card is incoming. Negative basis is not accepted.

For a cash-only intake, CaseLink warns that Buy Card is usually the clearer transaction type. Continue as a trade only when that classification is intentional.

Edit or cancel a trade

You can edit supported transaction details such as date, cash amounts, assigned values, basis, counterparty, notes, and show association. You cannot replace the original incoming or outgoing composition.

Trade cancellation is irreversible and is allowed only when no later activity makes reversal unsafe. Incoming inventory is removed from active use, outgoing cards return to stock, and the audit history remains. Cancelled trades are excluded from active reports.
