Roles, permissions, and feature access

Understand why a member can see an area but may not be able to perform every action.

CaseLink checks three separate access layers: the member's role, operational permissions, and dealer-level beta features. Passing one layer does not bypass the others.

Roles

  • Owner has all operational permissions and is the only role that can open dealer Settings or manage staff.
  • Manager has all operational permissions. Dealer Settings and staff administration remain owner-only.
  • Staff receives only the operational permissions selected by the owner.

Operational permissions

  • Mark pulled cards — mark inventory as pulled for a show.
  • Record sales — close deals and record or manage sales.
  • Manage offers and holds — open the complete Offers area, accept, decline, or counter offers, and release accepted-offer holds. The current staff permission picker labels this switch Release holds.
  • Manage inventory — add and edit inventory, prices, and storage details.
  • View financials — see private costs, minimum prices, margins, and profit-and-loss information.

Some actions require a combination. For example, editing buy price, all-in cost, or minimum price requires both Manage inventory and View financials.

Closing an accepted offer as a sale additionally requires Record sales.

Beta features

Dealer-level beta features control whether a product area exists for that dealer. Examples include Storefront, Lookup, Labels, and Offers. If a feature is not enabled, its navigation and related surfaces are unavailable even when the member has a matching permission.

Public Profile is the exception: the owner can still edit dealer identity, phone, and social links when the Storefront feature is not enabled. Only the Storefront editor, public Storefront preview, and Storefront address are unavailable.

Feature access and staff permissions are independent. Enabling a feature does not grant a staff permission, and granting a permission does not enable a feature.

Table Mode

Table Mode is currently disabled for every dealer. Plan staff access around named, revocable staff accounts in the dealer dashboard.

When an action is missing

Check:

  1. that you are working in the intended dealer account,
  2. whether the area is enabled for that dealer,
  3. whether your role or permission allows the action, and
  4. whether the page is owner-only.
