Use pricing fields correctly
Separate sticker price, minimum price, and per-unit costs correctly.
CaseLink keeps the asking price separate from private limits and costs. For stackable inventory, these fields are values per unit.
Sticker price
Sticker price is the default customer-facing asking price wherever the item is presented. A show-specific price override can replace it for that show. The amount agreed in an actual transaction is recorded separately as the sold price.
Minimum price
Minimum price is a private negotiation reference. It is not a public offer.
If you have View financials, the sale form warns when a sale is below the minimum price. The warning does not block the sale. People without financial access see neither the minimum price nor the warning derived from it.
Buy price
Buy price is the amount paid directly for one unit.
All-in cost
All-in cost is the per-unit cost after fees, shipping, grading, or other expenses. When it is set, CaseLink uses it as the cost basis. Otherwise, buy price becomes the cost basis.
Who can see and edit private values
Minimum price, buy price, and all-in cost require View financials. Editing them also requires Manage inventory. Sticker price is not a private cost field, but editing it still requires Manage inventory.
Example
A card might have a sticker price of 120 euros, a minimum price of 105 euros, a buy price of 78 euros, and an all-in cost of 82 euros. If it later sells for 112 euros, 112 euros is the sold price. Each value answers a different question and remains separate.
Before a show
- Review unusual prices and values that have not been updated recently.
- Confirm minimum prices for especially valuable inventory.
- Make sure private costs were not entered as customer-facing sticker prices.
- Tell the sales team about any special approvals.
Use Find and bulk edit inventory to change several pricing fields. Set show-specific prices while preparing a show, and record the amount actually agreed in the sale workflow.
